NDSA Welcomes Three New Members in Quarter Three of 2025
As of September 2025, the NDSA Leadership recommended welcoming its three most recent applicants into the membership:
- Cuerpo Academico Arte Teoria y Conservación del Patrimonio
- Greene County Records Center and Archives
- Ohio University Libraries
The academic body Arte, Teoría y Conservación del Patrimonio at the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas works transdisciplinarily on digital preservation projects related to the cultural heritage of Tamaulipas. Its approach emphasizes collaboration with municipal archives and memory institutions to promote understanding of digitization processes, preservation standards, and dissemination strategies. By providing technical and conceptual guidance, the group supports local entities in identifying, safeguarding, and making accessible significant collections that reflect the region’s cultural memory.
The Greene County Records Center and Archives is interested in joining NDSA in order to benefit from being a part of such an impressive global network. For the past three years, the Greene County Records Center and Archives has implemented digital preservation policies for all of the Offices and Departments for Greene County, Ohio, utilizing Preservica as our digital preservation system with about 8 million records preserved. As a County, we are moving forward in a direction of paperless records, and digitization/preservation of these paper records has been key. With all of the collaborative opportunities and the exchange of reports, guidance, and knowledge that NDSA provides, this will certainly help our institution as we continue to move forward with collecting digital records and their preservation.
Ohio University Libraries seek to join NDSA in order to participate in its rich community of practice. The Mahn Center for Archives and Special Collections supports the education and research needs of Ohio University by collecting in the areas of manuscripts, rare books, documentary photography, and university archives, with a focus on the history of Appalachian Ohio. The Digital Initiatives unit, which primarily serves the Mahn Center, provides access to digitized and born-digital materials from all areas of collections. The team is committed to providing freely available digital access to our collections in perpetuity. Our digitization process also includes the expansion of existing metadata, and digitized materials are described in detail at an item level. Our team seeks to stay on the cutting edge of digital imaging and preservation. We believe that our digital preservation activities make us well-suited to NDSA membership, and that we have much to contribute to the national community.
Each organization participates in one or more of the various interest and working groups – so keep an eye out for them on your calls, and be sure to give them a shout-out. Please join me in welcoming our new members! You can review the list of members here.
