The NDSA Leadership Team is pleased to share a summary of activities that occurred across the organization in May 2026, as well as highlight past and upcoming activities, which can also be found on the calendar. If you are looking to catch up, you can read the April update.

NDSA is working to keep the listserv current with members and as a result, email addresses which bounce back will be removed from the list. You can always sign-up for the updated list at any time with your current email address. NDSA also has Slack available to members. Sign-up to view channels devoted to specific interest groups or job announcements.

NDSA Digital Preservation 2026 Conference

The call for proposals for the upcoming annual NDSA Digital Preservation conference is now open. The conference will be held virtually on November 4-5, 2026. The deadline to submit a proposal is July 1, 2026 with submitters notified of acceptance starting in late July.

Organizational Transition Updates

Work to transition into a formal nonprofit continues in partnership with our colleagues at NISO. The NDSA trademark is now actively in the process of renewal in partnership with NISO, with paperwork filed with the U.S. Trademark Office. Specific artifacts necessary for incorporation are in various stages of completion. Articles of Incorporation have been drafted and the Coordinating Committee has voted to adopt these, which can now permit the registration process to begin. A Conflict of Interest policy is currently in the final stages of being drafted and will be voted on in the near future. Finally, Bylaws are in active discussion by the Leadership Team to ensure we adopt a set that will satisfy NDSA’s needs.

Interest and Working Group Updates

Working Groups

  • The Conference Planning Working Group has begun coordinating with the Events Steering Committee and is working to finalize details related to registration costs and sponsorship tiers.
  • The Events Steering Committee continues to recruit members and now has a page on the NDSA website where more information can be found..
  • The Excellence Awards Working Group held a subgroup meeting on May 28, 2026 to discuss award categories and submitted recommendations back to the full working group.
  • The Fixity Survey Working Group has published the 2025 NDSA Fixity Survey Report.
  • The Membership Working Group is working on updating the member application and refining the application review process.
  • The Staffing Survey Working Group is finishing the editing process for the report and will be submitting to the Communications and Publications Working Group soon.
  • The Web Archiving Survey Working Group has completed updating the survey, including revisions and new questions, and the survey is now open through June 24 for submissions. We welcome responses from NDSA members and the broader web archiving community.
