Purdue University Northwest Archives & Special Collections joined NDSA to connect with a broader community of digital preservation professionals, strengthen their programs through shared knowledge and best practices, and continue advancing the field. As a small archives program serving a regional public university, they are particularly interested in practical and sustainable approaches to digital stewardship, preservation assessment, accessibility, and public access. They look forward to contributing to NDSA’s collaborative initiatives through working groups, surveys, publications, and community discussions while sharing lessons learned from their efforts to preserve and provide access to university and regional history in a rapidly evolving digital environment.

The National Library of South Africa (NLSA) joined NDSA to contribute actively to collective knowledge, share regional expertise, and learn from international peers. The NLSA has a legal mandate to collect, record, and preserve the nation’s documentary heritage published in and about South Africa. As a leading institution for digital preservation in the Southern African region, and serving as an IFLA Preservation and Conservation Hub, the NLSA is committed to safeguarding cultural memory while ensuring broad digital accessibility. Their membership in NDSA will enable them to enhance their impact in the library and information sector, ensuring that South Africa’s documentary heritage remains accessible and preserved for generations to come.

The Baltimore Science Fiction Society, an all volunteer organization founded in 1963 to support the development of science fiction literature, recently created a collection of digital publications to capture the many new works only published in digital formats. Their membership in NDSA will provide access to the knowledge and community of digital preservation as they build this new component of their current library, containing almost 19,000 cataloged SF books and serials.

The Cariniana Network joined to participate in NDSA’s interest and working groups, which serve as a reference for guiding and deepening the Cariniana Network’s research. The Network was created to build a digital preservation service to ensure the continuous access to Brazilian electronic documents. As part of this work, the Cariniana Network created a research group whose main objective is to bring together researchers, professionals, and institutions to develop, share, and implement knowledge, methodologies, and technologies focused on digital preservation.

Legacy Films and Preservation, LLC’s NDSA membership will help to accomplish their mission to record oral histories. They work with families and organizations to help and/or consult in the organization and application of all forms of media (photographs, film/video, documents, digital media) in the interests of creating and preserving films and dynamic archives for research, education and a material resource for future generations.

The Correctional Association of New York (CANY) joins NDSA as they begin establishing a new CANY Digital Archive to preserve and provide access to records documenting prison oversight, advocacy, and lived experiences within New York State’s correctional system. Drawing on historical records dating back to 1844, this new digital archive will make materials accessible to a wide audience for research, education, and community engagement. By actively incorporating contributions from currently and formerly incarcerated individuals, the project aims to establish them as coequal contributors to a more complete and inclusive permanent record.

Each organization participates in one or more of the various interest and working groups – so keep an eye out for them on your calls and be sure to give them a shout out. Please join me in welcoming our new members. NDSA’s list of members is available on our website.
